GRAFT Studios

A creative workspace in Sandown’s Old Town Hall, supporting artists, makers and hands-on public workshops.

GRAFT Studios is a new creative workspace in Sandown’s historic Old Town Hall. Resident artists and makers work across contemporary art, craft and process-led practice, while public workshops open the building to people who want to learn directly from practitioners. The studios are intended as working spaces rather than a conventional gallery, so sessions can involve ink, tools, machinery and materials that would be out of place in a polished exhibition room. Public access is by appointment or for advertised events.

The address is The Old Town Hall, Grafton Street, Sandown, PO36 8JJ. The building stands near the seafront end of Avenue Road, with Sandown railway station, bus stops and public parking all within walking distance. GRAFT publishes accessibility information for the site, but the route to an individual studio can vary. Anyone who needs a level entrance, particular work height or space for a companion should contact the organiser before booking.

Workshop visitors should arrive in clothes suitable for practical making and read the ticket description for materials, drying times and what can be taken home. Small class sizes are part of the appeal, giving the tutor time to demonstrate a process and help with individual work, but they also mean advance booking is important. GRAFT’s website lists current openings and workshops, while event questions can be sent to graftstudiosiow@gmail.com. The public should not visit outside advertised hours without an appointment.
