Independent Arts Creative Hub

An arts and workshop space run by Independent Arts on Newport High Street.

Independent Arts Creative Hub is the Island charity's base for public creative activity, at 48–49 High Street in Newport. Workshops and arts events happen here in the middle of town, so you can easily fit one around an errand or a bus trip. What you work with depends on the visiting tutor. It might be paint, clay, paper or something else. Don't expect a gallery. It's a working room for taking part, and the layout and programme change from visit to visit.

The postcode is PO30 1SE. Newport bus station is within walking distance. If you're driving, use town-centre parking and leave time to walk up to the High Street. Which room an event uses, and how much table space you get, depends on the activity. If you need step-free access, a particular work surface or room for a companion, ask Independent Arts before you book. The charity lists its contact details and current programme on its own website.

Read the event description before you turn up to a practical workshop. Some sessions include all materials and a drink. Others are priced differently or ask for something extra. Booking one class doesn't cover the rest of the programme. Wear clothes that suit whatever you'll be working with, and get there early enough to find the tutor and settle in before instructions start. Venue questions go to Independent Arts. For questions about technique or your finished piece, the tutor or the ticket form may be the better route.
