Sounds + Grounds

Sounds + Grounds is an independent record and coffee shop at 12 Birmingham Road in Cowes. Founded in July 2022, it combines racks of pre-loved vinyl, CDs and music memorabilia with coffee and sweet treats. The shop welcomes serious collectors, casual browsers and people who simply want somewhere music-led to stop for a drink. It is also dog friendly, which is useful to know before an ordinary daytime visit.

The stock covers rock, soul, reggae, punk, indie, electronic and jazz, with records condition-checked and graded before sale. Lavazza coffee sits alongside tea, cold drinks and iced coffee. That mixture gives the room a lived-in character: customers can look through the racks without treating the visit like a silent gallery, and the coffee counter makes it easier to stay for more than a quick purchase.

Live performances use the shop at close quarters, so each event page carries the ticketing and full timetable. A gig here feels closer to an in-store session than a conventional concert hall, with the audience sharing the same record-shop surroundings used during the day.
