Ability Dogs 4 Young People Barn Dance

The Caulkheads play a fundraising barn dance at Newport’s Riverside Centre, with dances taught and proceeds supporting Ability Dogs 4 Young People.

The Ability Dogs 4 Young People Barn Dance fills Newport’s Riverside Centre with live music from The Caulkheads and dances that are taught as you go. You do not need to arrive knowing the steps. That makes it an inviting choice when a few friends fancy a night out together but nobody wants to be the person expected to know what they are doing.

The evening raises money for Ability Dogs 4 Young People, the Island charity, with the dancing giving everyone a shared reason to get involved. A live band and instructions are a helpful combination: you can listen, pick up the pattern and have another go when it changes. It is a fundraiser built around doing something together, rather than simply sitting at separate tables through an evening. Bring someone willing to join in and allow room for the odd wrong turn.

Saturday 21 November runs from 7pm to 10pm. For this community fundraiser, advance tickets are £12.50, rising to £15 on the door, so buying early saves £2.50 each. Tickets are available through the charity’s shops or its website donation route, quoting Barn Dance; check that process with the charity if you are unsure. The Riverside Centre is in Newport, which helps when bringing friends together from different parts of the Island. Three hours gives you time to get the hang of a dance and try it again.
