Actor Workshop for Adults 18+ with Emma Turner

Emma Turner leads an adults-only acting workshop at Department in Ryde, exploring listening through actor practice on the evening of 27 October.

Actor Workshop for Adults 18+ with Emma Turner takes place at Department in Ryde on Tuesday 27 October, from 7pm to 9.30pm. This Isle of Wight acting session is about listening: to another person, to the room and to yourself as an actor. Emma asks how listening in everyday life compares with listening during a performance. You’ll spend an evening practising with other adults at the Cross Street cultural space.

Her questions make a decent starting point. How well do you listen as a person, and does that change when you act? You take the question into the room for an evening of shared acting and creative practice. The organiser invites participants to play and listen together, and no script is named for the session. If you’re thinking about a first acting workshop, or coming back after time away, ask Emma about the experience level.

Booking is essential, either in store or through Department’s acting workshop booking service. The announcement doesn’t publish a price, so ask what it costs before you reserve. Department occupies the former Packs department store at 29-30 Cross Street. Keep the full two and a half hours clear and confirm Tuesday 27 October when you book. The organiser mentions other workshop days too, so make sure you’re booking this particular session.
