Art on Your Doorstep: Self-Guided Art Walk begins at Newport & Carisbrooke Community Hub on Sunday 4 October. You can set out within the published 06:00 to 18:00 access window.
This self-guided, one-mile art walk starts at 64 High Street and finishes at Newport harbour. The route places 18 life-size reproductions of National Gallery paintings around the town centre, historic squares and alleyways, with an illustrated map and a fully step-free route. Because you choose the pace, one painting can hold your attention or the whole set can become a town-centre circuit. The step-free route also removes barriers that rule out many organised walks. Beginning at the Newport and Carisbrooke Community Hub gives the walk a clear High Street base. The harbour finish then pulls the route through several different parts of the county town.
The trail is free, with advance booking and an illustrated map. Begin at 64 High Street during the 06:00 to 18:00 window; the one-mile route ends at Newport harbour instead of looping to the Community Hub. Sunday gives you room to add lunch or shops as you pass through town, though the art remains outdoors and the weather will affect how long you linger. Other arts and creative events offer an indoor fallback if rain settles in.
