Halloween Clay Foam Creatures

Make a Halloween creature from clay foam at Sandown Library, with a booked craft session for children aged four and over.

Halloween Clay Foam Creatures at Sandown Library gives children aged four and over a morning of making rather than a fright-filled outing. The material is clay foam, the brief is a Halloween creature, and there is room for children to decide what sort of character they want to create. A booked session also gives the half-term diary a definite plan when the rest of the week is still being negotiated.

This is the library’s second monster-making idea in the October programme, with a different material and an age limit to bear in mind. It will suit a child who would rather shape a creature of their own than simply watch someone else’s Halloween entertainment. The seasonal theme can be as silly as it is spooky; the attraction is the time spent making, and the conversation about what the creature should become.

This children’s craft session takes place on Tuesday 27 October from 10.30am to noon. Book through Sandown Library on 01983 402748, rather than treating this one as a drop-in. Ask about any charge, accompanying-adult arrangements and anything needed on the day when reserving a place, as those details have not been published. Keep the age-four minimum in mind if bringing younger siblings. The Halloween build-up gets an hour and a half at the craft table; the finished creature can do the scaring once it gets home.
