Quilted Patchwork Placemat Course

Past event

This page shows the historical details for Friday 18 September 2026. If this event returns in 2027, the new details are not published yet.

A two-evening sewing course at Craft It covering patchwork, quilting and binding through a finished placemat project.

Presented by Craft It

This compact course at Craft It uses a quilted placemat to teach three linked textile skills. Participants first build the patchwork surface, then add quilting before finishing the edges with binding. Choosing a useful object keeps the scale manageable while still showing how a quilted piece is constructed from beginning to end. Basic sewing-machine experience is helpful but not essential, according to the organiser.

The sessions run from 6pm to 8pm on Friday 11 and Friday 18 September. The £40 fee covers both evenings, and a 50 per cent deposit is required to secure a place. Booking is by email through Craft It, with numbers limited by the workshop space and machines. Confirm what fabric, thread and equipment are included before buying extra supplies, and make sure you can attend both dates before reserving.

As a two-part craft workshop, the course has time for work to continue between stages instead of rushing every seam into a single class. Bring reading glasses or other close-work aids if needed, and wear something comfortable for sitting at a machine. The second date is part of the same booking, not a separate drop-in. Contact Craft It if you need help with access or want to know whether your previous sewing experience is suitable.
