Rydabus 2026

Heritage bus weekend across the Island (16–17 May 2026): free rides on classic buses, optional souvenir programme (£12.70–£14.20), links with Steam Railway events — details from the Bus Museum.

Presented by Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum

Vintage buses running free rides across the Isle of Wight across the weekend of 16-17 May is the sort of island thing that sounds like a niche interest until you are standing at a stop in Newport watching a 1960s Bristol Lodekka pull up and realising you are going to get on it. Rydabus 2026 is organised by the Isle of Wight Bus and Coach Museum, and the free hop-on, hop-off service connects Sandown, Ryde, Newport, and Cowes over the two days.

The optional souvenir programme for £12.75 opens up brewery tours, pub discounts, and a structured route guide if you want more shape to the day. Without it, the appeal is simpler: classic buses, island roads, and a different pace of travel than the standard car or cycle routes offer. Families tend to find the novelty works particularly well with children who respond to old vehicles, and the stops include locations worth spending time in beyond the bus journey itself.

Free rides; programme optional. Check the Bus Museum for timetables and stop information. More heritage events on the island across the same weekend.
