August Sundays have a particular quality at the western end of the island: the season is at its peak but Totland Bay stays quieter than the main tourist beaches, and the promenade at The Waterfront holds the afternoon light in a way that the east coast does not. Hodge and Allen play the Sunday Live slot on 2 August as a duo, which gives the acoustic end of the afternoon a different shape from the full-band sets that have run through the summer so far.
Duo sets suit The Waterfront well: the room is intimate enough that two performers can fill it without amplification doing all the work, and the acoustic format opens up material that full-band Sunday sets do not. Hodge and Allen bring a set that covers folk, acoustic rock, and originals, with the kind of vocal harmonies that carry across a promenade terrace and into the afternoon without effort.
Free entry. The Waterfront, Totland Bay. Music from 3pm. Food throughout. More music events on the Isle of Wight across the late summer season.
