Thomas Luke: Wight Proms Wednesday brings an Island-born pianist back to The Garlic Farm in Newchurch for an evening of dinner and piano music. Thomas won the keyboard category of BBC Young Musician in 2020 and has performed at Wigmore Hall. Here, you can hear him in the farm restaurant, with a forty-minute recital that gives a weekday evening a clear focus without committing to a full concert programme.
The restaurant opens for evening meals from 6pm and serves its menu until 7.30pm. Thomas takes over at the piano at 7.45pm, while the bar stays open throughout. That leaves time to eat and catch up before you settle down to listen. He began learning at four, went on to the Junior Royal Academy of Music and earned a scholarship to the Royal College of Music. His playing has also reached audiences on national radio and television.
Wight Proms Wednesdays combines the meal and recital in one Newchurch outing. Check the ticket options before booking, including whether your chosen option covers dinner or requires a separate restaurant reservation. You can come with someone who enjoys classical piano or use the evening as a way back into live music on the Island after a busy stretch. The short recital makes the evening manageable; allow longer if you plan to eat first.
