Vocal Legends with Sandy Smith brings a polished tribute-style music night to Apollo Theatre in Newport. Apollo's listing points to songs associated with Cher, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Shirley Bassey, Barbra Streisand and Adele, so expect the kind of set where the audience knows the choruses before the first line has finished.
This sits firmly in live music territory, but it should appeal beyond regular gig-goers: big ballads, powerhouse voices and familiar songs make it a straightforward Saturday night plan. The Apollo setting keeps it smaller than a touring concert hall, which can make a vocal-led show feel warmer and more direct.
It is a good fit for couples, friends and anyone who wants a proper sit-down show rather than a standing gig. Book ahead, leave time for Newport parking, and arrive early if you want a drink before the first anthem lands.
