Aspire Youth Takeover

A free weekly Shanklin session for 11 to 16-year-olds, led by Aspire with two hours of supervised youth activity.

Presented by Aspire Ryde

Aspire Youth Takeover gives 11 to 16-year-olds their own two-hour slot at Shanklin Young Persons & Family Centre. The emphasis is on a supervised place to meet, take part and shape the atmosphere with other young people, rather than sitting through an adult-designed presentation. Aspire’s wider youth work includes creative activity, music and social support, although the exact mix for each takeover evening can vary.

Sessions run from 5pm to 7pm on Thursdays 17 and 24 September and 1 October. Attendance is free and no paid ticket is advertised. A parent or carer should still check whether first-time participants need a consent form, emergency contact details or advance registration. The 11 to 16 age range is part of the programme. Agree collection arrangements before the session, especially as early-autumn evenings begin to darken.

This is a youth-led community activity with safeguarding and staff supervision behind it. Young people can arrive expecting to join in, but they do not need to perform or bring specialist equipment unless Aspire posts a particular theme. Contact the organiser in advance about additional support, allergies or accessibility. Session changes are most likely to appear through Aspire’s community channels, while the centre address should be used only for travel planning.
