Beat the Heat brings a sociable charity quiz to Bargeman’s Rest in Newport in support of Heartbeat. Teams of up to six can tackle the questions, share a buffet and compete for prizes without the evening becoming too solemn or formal. Arrive from 6.30pm for the 7pm start, which leaves enough time to find your table, order a drink and agree who is handling the music round.
Entry costs £20 per person and includes the buffet. The money supports Heartbeat, the cardiac charity associated with the Wessex Cardiac Unit at University Hospital Southampton. It is a useful night for regular quiz teams, workplace groups or friends who want a midweek get-together with a clear fundraising purpose. Bargeman’s Rest is beside the Medina at Little London Quay, a short walk from Newport bus station and the town centre.
