Christmas Decoration Day Workshop at Jubilee Stores gives you a morning in Newport making something to bring out each festive season. Maker Lo Addison of Lo & Behold guides you through a stained glass and copper foil decoration, with a choice of three designs. You can join as a beginner or build on some previous experience. The workshop is for adults aged 18 and over, with all materials, tools and equipment supplied.
Lo began making stained glass in 2017 and started teaching in 2023, drawing on a background in 3D Design at Camberwell College of Arts. Her interest began with the stained glass in her school chapel and continues through visits to historic windows on her travels. At the workshop, the focus turns to your own decoration: choosing a design and working with the materials under her guidance. It offers a Christmas outing where you spend the time making a piece yourself, rather than choosing a ready-made ornament from a stall.
The session runs from 10am to 2pm on Saturday 5 December, and the £58 ticket includes the materials. Bring an apron to protect your clothes, wear something comfortable that can get dirty, and choose strong closed-toe shoes. Book through Quay Arts and check the workshop terms before attending. Jubilee Stores is by Newport Harbour, separate from the main arts centre on Sea Street. If you would like another practical session after Christmas, keep an eye on the island's art and craft workshops for a technique to learn next.
