Jubilee Stores

Quay Arts’ riverside studio complex in Newport, home to working artists and participatory arts courses.

Jubilee Stores is Quay Arts’ artist-studio and participatory arts complex on Newport Harbour. The 1924 former grain store was converted in the 1990s and now houses seven studios used by artists and makers working in pottery, printmaking, jewellery, illustration and other disciplines. Public courses make use of properly equipped workrooms rather than temporary craft tables, which is especially valuable for processes involving clay, presses or specialist tools. The building retains the feel of a working creative site.

The address is Newport Harbour, Newport, PO30 2EF, a short walk along the river from the main Quay Arts Centre. It can be approached from Sea Street or by the pedestrian route beside Seaclose Park. Metered and accessible parking is available nearby rather than as a guaranteed space at the door. Studio locations vary by course and some are on upper floors, so participants with access requirements should contact Quay Arts before booking to confirm the room and route.

Classes here often run as a series, allowing work to be developed, dried or fired between meetings. Read the ticket terms to see whether the price covers one date or the full course, and whether materials and firing are included. Practical clothing is sensible for clay and print work. Quay Arts handles bookings and general enquiries on 01983 822490, while the tutor leads the content of each session. Allow a little time on the first visit to locate the correct studio before the advertised start.
