Gurnard Village Hall hosts a community screening of the People's Emergency Briefing on Sunday 28 June, doors at 2.45pm for a 3pm start. The 45-minute film draws on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster, with voices including Chris Packham and Deborah Meaden, and nine UK scientists on how cost of living, food security, extreme weather and health connect. It is part of the Isle of Wight Biosphere Festival programme.
After the film, there is time to share how you feel and talk about what could be done locally on the island. Tickets are free but booking is strongly advised, and refreshments are available with donations welcome. Parking at Gurnard Village Hall is very limited, so car sharing or on-street parking in Gurnard is worth planning. The film is recommended for ages 16 and over, and the discussion is the point as much as the screening.
For background on the film itself, see nebriefing.org. More heritage and community events on the Isle of Wight cover festival screenings and local discussions through the Biosphere programme.
