The Planet Aware Watershoot Bay beach clean meets at Knowles Farm in Ventnor at 6pm on Sunday 5 July, before heading to Watershoot Bay at the very southern tip of the island. Planet Aware are a local Isle of Wight community group with a dedicated beach cleaning team, working to reduce plastic pollution on island beaches, and this two-hour session is their contribution to the closing day of the Isle of Wight Biosphere Festival 2026.
The clean runs from 6pm to 8pm, and the target is simple: remove as much plastic and man-made debris from the bay as possible before it washes back out to sea. Every piece collected means one fewer hazard for the marine life along the island's southern tip. Free and open to all ages, with children welcome as long as they are alongside an adult. Booking is essential before you go, as Planet Aware need an accurate headcount and a way to reach you with any updates.
Watershoot Bay is right at the southern end of the island, so this is worth treating as a purposeful evening rather than a casual drop-in. Meet at Knowles Farm, bring clothes that can cope with coast and weather, and reserve a place through Planet Aware before travelling. If you have children who would enjoy a practical beach job with a clear result, check the island's family events section around the same weekend. For more chances to get involved with local groups and causes, the community events calendar has other gatherings worth knowing about.
