Show-Ring Ready Turnout Demonstration

A practical Isle of Wight Pony Club turnout demonstration at the County Showground in Northwood, covering plaiting, trimming, feed advice and in-hand presentation.

Presented by Isle of Wight Pony Club and Pip Smith

Show-Ring Ready is a practical equestrian turnout demonstration at Isle of Wight County Showground in Northwood, run by Isle of Wight Pony Club with the Royal Isle of Wight County Show equestrian committee. It is aimed at riders, parents and horse-mad islanders who want more confidence before stepping into a ring, or who simply enjoy seeing skilled horse care close up.

Top judge Julia Ryde-Rogers and the team will work through the details that make a horse look polished: plaiting, trimming, feed advice, quarter marks and in-hand presentation. The draw here is the hands-on feel. You are not just reading a checklist before show day; you can watch the techniques, ask better questions and see how small preparation choices change the finished picture.

The organiser lists adult tickets at £8, under 16s at £4 and under 12s free. Book through Horse Monkey when entries open, then leave enough time for the field setting, parking and any gate instructions. For more riding, showing and outdoor sport dates, keep an eye on the sport events calendar; for venue practicalities, check Isle of Wight County Showground before you set off.
