The Jive Aces bring their Feelin' Happy Tour to Medina Theatre in Newport on the evening of Friday 29 May, starting at 7:30 pm. Billed as the UK's No.1 jive and swing band, they have spent 30 years and more than 40 countries earning that description honestly, and their set moves from smooth swing ballads through to the foot-stomping rhythm-and-blues roots of rock and roll. Joining them for the evening is jazz vocalist Noelle Vaughn, who has performed at Ronnie Scott's and brings a catalogue that includes the albums *Bewitched* and *Too Darn Hot*.
You probably already know the Jive Aces, even if you don't know you do. Their version of the Morecambe and Wise classic "Bring Me Sunshine" has close to four million YouTube views, and comedian Miranda Hart told BBC Radio 3 it has the power to make her "lose any self-consciousness and dance." Their latest album, *Keeping The Show On The Road*, hit No.1 on Mike Read's Heritage Chart and picked up plays on BBC and Boom Radio. The show is indoors, runs until 9:30 pm, and is easy to fit around a school night without anyone needing to worry about a late ferry.
Tickets are £22 and booking is required. Medina Leisure Centre on Fairlee Road has parking, which takes the stress out of a Friday evening in Newport. If you want to put together a wider plan for that weekend, the Newport town guide has eating options and nearby places to explore.
