Wednesday Afternoon Pottery

Three Wednesday-afternoon pottery sessions in the equipped ceramics studio at Jubilee Stores, led through Quay Arts.

Presented by Quay Arts

Wednesday Afternoon Pottery offers a substantial two-and-a-half-hour making session inside Jubilee Stores, the working studio complex run by Quay Arts. The time allows participants to do more than handle clay briefly: pieces can be developed, techniques practised and questions explored with a tutor in a properly equipped pottery space. The format is suitable for returning makers as well as people looking to build confidence through guided studio time.

Sessions run from 1.30pm to 4pm on Wednesdays 16, 23 and 30 September. The advertised rate is £27.50 per session, with a six-week course price of £165 also shown by the organiser. Booking is required. Confirm whether the September dates can be bought individually and what the fee includes for clay, glaze and firing. Wear old clothes or bring an apron, and keep nails practical for hand-building work.

Among the Island’s arts and crafts classes, pottery benefits particularly from a repeated schedule because work often needs drying or firing between visits. Ask how completed pieces will be collected and whether storage is available if you miss a week. Jubilee Stores is separate from the main Quay Arts building, so use the Newport Harbour address and allow time to locate the studio. Quay Arts handles bookings and access enquiries for the complex.
