Willow Bird Feeders Workshop at Quay Arts

Gina Dyer teaches traditional willow weaving at Quay Arts so you leave with a spiral bird feeder for fat balls.

Presented by Quay Arts

The Willow Bird Feeders workshop at Quay Arts is the fourth Summer School 2026 session with artist Gina Dyer. You work with buff willow to weave a tall spiral feeder designed to hold handmade fat balls, learning traditional techniques in a full-day session from 10am to 4pm on Friday 7 August.

Rattan is available if willow feels too tough on your hands, which matters because the listing notes weaving can be physically demanding. The workshop suits beginners and those with some experience, aged 18 and over. You leave with something useful for the garden rather than a practice square that lives in a drawer, which fits anyone who likes supporting local makers and wants a finished piece by teatime.

Tickets are £65. Book via Quay Arts, the shop, or 01983 822490. Read the terms before booking. For more arts and craft workshops on the Isle of Wight, Quay Arts runs back-to-back summer school days through August alongside exhibitions in the main galleries.
