Witches, Wands & Whistles

Half-term magic at Isle of Wight Steam Railway includes wizard school, shows, crafts, trails and a spooky train from 17 to 31 October.

Presented by Isle of Wight Steam Railway

For Witches, Wands & Whistles, the railway at Havenstreet goes over to spells and steam. At Isle of Wight Steam Railway, children can explore a wizard school, watch magic shows, visit a pumpkin patch, follow a treasure trail and try circus skills. Bubbles, broom or wand making and a spooky train are on the list as well. Activities may follow different timetables on different days, so look up the programme for your date. Don't assume everything runs all day.

It's advertised from Saturday 17 to Saturday 31 October. There's no single reliable schedule yet for daily opening and activity times. Entry to the site is free. Train travel and some craft activities cost extra. Before you promise a child anything specific, check the railway's event page for that day's timetable, booking requirements and current prices. Parts of Havenstreet are outdoors and you'll probably walk between areas, so bring weather-ready clothes and sensible shoes.

This is a proper family programme, not a single short show. You could build a visit around a train ride, a craft or just the free activities on site. The railway lists plenty of attractions, but what's on, and in what order, may change over the two weeks. If your child has their heart set on one thing, confirm it's running on your day. Ask the railway about dogs and access too, particularly for the train and the smaller activity spaces.
