Totland Bay Bowling Club

Totland Bay Bowling Club is a lawn bowls club off The Broadway in Totland Bay. The official address is Off The Broadway, PO39 0AT. The club has been on its current site for more than a century, and its records date its formation to 1908. Members play league matches and friendlies as well as club competitions, and visiting sides come to play too.

You don't have to be an experienced bowler to enquire about joining. The club runs open days and a coaching academy for people who want to try lawn bowls. Wear flat-soled shoes or trainers; the club can lend you bowls, so you can try the game before buying a set of your own, and nobody needs to arrive kitted out. Visiting bowlers who want a roll-up should contact the honorary secretary to arrange one. The green isn't a drop-in attraction.

Outside the playing season, members meet in the clubhouse. Cribbage and skittles sit alongside quiz and bingo evenings, and tai chi is on the programme as well. A game of cards or a club night is a way to meet people without picking up a bowl. For food beside the sea on a separate outing, The Waterfront is a bar and restaurant on The Promenade.
