Isle of Wight Rare Breeds is opening the farm for a relaxed family open day at Isle of Wight Rare Breeds in Alverstone on Saturday 6 June. Entry is £2 per person, with activities included in the price, making it a low-cost way to spend a few hours with younger children, animal lovers and anyone curious about life on the farm.
Across the day there will be unlimited tractor and trailer rides, a farm trail to follow, children's craft activities and chances to meet the animals. The team has also mentioned Oreo, their bottle-fed calf, as one of the friendly faces visitors can meet. Refreshments will be available to buy on site.
The event runs from 11am to 3pm and booking is available through TryBooking. The farm is rural and much of the experience is outdoors, so wear shoes that can handle grass or uneven ground and check the forecast before setting off.
Isle of Wight Rare Breeds CIC is a care, education and community farm based at Oaklea Dairy. Its sessions focus on hands-on time with friendly rare breeds, nature and inclusive farm activities, so this open day should suit families who want something gentle, local and interactive.
