Ghosts of Ryde: Halloween at the Museum

The Museum of Ryde reopens on Tuesday 27 October after its Sunday and Monday closure, with the Ghosts of Ryde exhibition, a treasure hunt and colouring for children.

Tuesday is the museum’s first opening day after the weekend, and Ghosts of Ryde is still on at the Museum of Ryde. The Halloween exhibition comes with things for children to do, which makes it an easy early pick for a half-term week. The museum is underground in the Royal Victoria Arcade on Union Street, Ryde, PO33 2LQ.

Children get a Halloween treasure hunt and colouring; you get the exhibition. Historic Ryde Society runs the museum, which has been in the arcade basement since it opened to the public in 2011. The visit takes in the exhibition and the building together, and it needs no evening plans. Volunteers look after the exhibitions and welcome visitors. Lord Lambton laid the arcade’s foundation stone in 1835, so the exhibition has a building with plenty of history around it.

Last admission is 3.15pm and the museum closes at 4pm, so plan your afternoon around that. It opens at 10.30am. Adults pay £5. Under-eights are free, and ages 8–16 are free too (16 included). If you need to check how to reach the underground space, ask the museum about access beforehand. Remember the museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays. To fill the rest of the holiday week, try the children’s activities in the events programme.
