Ghosts of Ryde: Halloween at the Museum

Friday 30 October is the second-to-last day of Ghosts of Ryde at the Museum of Ryde, with a Halloween exhibition, treasure hunt and colouring for children.

Friday 30 October is the second-to-last day of Ghosts of Ryde at the Museum of Ryde. The exhibition and the Halloween treasure hunt are both still running, so there is time to bring the children if you haven’t managed it yet this half-term. The museum is underground in the Royal Victoria Arcade on Union Street, Ryde PO33 2LQ, below one of the town’s older buildings.

Colouring runs alongside the treasure hunt, and children can pick either. Historic Ryde Society opened the arcade basement to museum visitors in 2011, and the Halloween programme stays close to the town’s own story. The arcade above dates from 1835, when Lord Lambton laid its foundation stone, and volunteers look after the exhibitions. It is a daytime visit, with no after-dark event to wait for. The programme finishes on Saturday 31 October.

Doors open at 10.30am and close at 4pm. Last entry is 3.15pm, so aim to be there well before then. Adults pay £5. Under-eights and ages 8–16 (16 included) are free. Ask about access if anyone in your group needs to know how to reach the basement. If Saturday is spoken for, the family events programme has other half-term outings on the island.
