Ghosts of Ryde: Halloween at the Museum

Saturday 31 October is Halloween and the final day of Ghosts of Ryde at the Museum of Ryde, with its exhibition, treasure hunt and children’s colouring.

Ghosts of Ryde ends on Halloween itself, Saturday 31 October, at the Museum of Ryde. Come in the daytime for the exhibition, the treasure hunt and the colouring before the seasonal programme closes. The museum sits underground in the Royal Victoria Arcade on Union Street, Ryde PO33 2LQ, with Ryde’s history around you as well as the Halloween theme.

Children follow the treasure hunt or colour, and adults get the exhibition. Historic Ryde Society runs the museum, which has been in the arcade basement since it opened to the public in 2011, in an arcade whose foundation stone Lord Lambton laid in 1835. Volunteers look after the exhibitions and welcome visitors. This last Saturday completes the 20–31 October programme. A daytime start leaves the evening free for whatever else you have planned on the island.

Adults pay £5. Check the age bands when you work out the cost for your group: under-eights and ages 8–16 (16 included) go free. The museum opens at 10.30am and closes at 4pm, with last entry at 3.15pm, so get there well before that cut-off. For access information about the underground rooms, contact the museum. Once you are back out on Union Street, the family Halloween activities show what else is on.
