Great British Summer at Osborne

English Heritage's Great British Summer runs at Osborne House in East Cowes daily from 18 July to 6 September, with fairground activities, circus skills, puppet antics and a children's stamp passport trail.

Presented by English Heritage

Great British Summer at Osborne House runs daily from 18 July to 6 September 2026, 10am to 5pm, layering a programme of activities across the East Cowes estate that gives children something purposeful to do beyond trailing adults through Victorian rooms. Fairground activities, a circus skills station and puppet antics are spread through the grounds, and children can pick up a souvenir passport at the start, collecting stamps as they work through the summer adventure. It's the kind of structure that genuinely changes the pace of a heritage visit for school-age children.

Admission covers the whole programme, so there's no extra cost once you're through the gate. Entry is by timed slot, and booking ahead through the English Heritage website takes 15% off the admission price; English Heritage members get in free. The timed slot system is worth taking seriously in peak August weeks when the estate draws large crowds. Check current prices on the English Heritage site before you go, as specific figures weren't displayed at the time of writing.

This suits family days out on the Isle of Wight where the adults want more than a play park and the children want more than a guided tour. The estate has enough space that the day can breathe, and combining it with a walk around East Cowes or a stop along the Medina makes sense if you're arriving on the Red Funnel or coming from the west of the island. Give it the full seven hours if you can; this isn't a venue that rewards rushing.
