Medina Marching Band marks its 50th anniversary with a full marching band tattoo at Cowes Enterprise College. The event brings together youth marching bands and drill display teams from across the UK for an evening of music, formation, ceremony and massed performance. If you have only seen marching bands pass through a carnival, this is a more focused chance to watch the discipline close up.
The announced line-up includes Wight Diamonds Marching Band, Burgess Hill Marching Youth, Friends of Surbiton RBL Youth Marching Band, the Band of the Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps Gosport and the 1024 Isle of Wight Air Training Corps ceremonial flight drill display team. That mix should give the evening both island pride and a wider national youth-band feel.
Music lovers, families with young performers at home and anyone who enjoys pageantry can make this a proper Sunday evening out without leaving the Island. Tickets are listed at £12 per person, and advance booking is sensible. Cowes Enterprise College is inland from the seafront, so plan transport and parking rather than assuming a quick Cowes High Street stop will cover it.
