Paper, watercolour and a little folding turn into a mini pop-up meadow card at Lord Louis Library. Independent Arts is leading this hour-long workshop in the Newport library. It's a compact project that mixes painting with simple paper construction, and you end up with a card whose scene lifts off the page. This is hands-on, not a demonstration. You spend the time making your own version and asking for help as you go.
It takes place on Wednesday 30 September from 10am to 11am. It's free, but you need to book a place by calling the Isle of Wight Council Library Service on 01983 823823. While you're on the phone, ask whether you need any materials or protective clothing, because the public announcement doesn't say. The library is in Newport, close to the town centre and bus station. Arrive a little early so you can find the right room and settle at a table.
An hour is a sensible size for trying a craft workshop without committing to a longer course. The event notice gives no age range, so if you're booking for a child, check with the library first. Same with access or seating needs: ask, rather than assuming the workshop will be in the main public area. Keep an eye on the organiser's event page for changes before you set out.
