Screen Printing Landscapes with Vinyl brings a small Norwood Print workshop to GRAFT Studios in Sandown on Saturday 31 October. From 10am to 3pm, participants build prints with two or three layers, using vinyl stencils for a scene or another figurative image. Numbers stop at five, so the tutor can help everyone as they work. One workshop costs £60, and there’s a separate two-workshop offer at £100.
The stencils are more complex this time. Norwood Print describes two routes: use a Cricut and its design library, or make your own. You’ll also learn to make a monoprinted background, which gives you another way to bring colour in beneath the stencilled image. Those are the techniques the day is built on. If you have an image in mind, ask the tutor what to prepare and whether it would work as a layered print.
GRAFT Studios occupies Sandown’s Old Town Hall on Grafton Street, on the Isle of Wight. To reserve a place on this printmaking workshop, first find out what the £60 includes and which materials or equipment you need to bring. If the £100 offer interests you, ask which other workshop qualifies for it. Keep the five hours clear: there’s time for the backgrounds as well as the stencil work.
