Wild Metal Blooms at Quay Arts begins with close looking. Artist Jo Kori asks you to draw from real plants first: line, shape and texture studies that slow you down before any hammering starts. By afternoon you translate those observations into a sculptural flower made from recycled metal, thinking about how natural forms can inspire sustainable design.
The day suits adults who like making with their hands but want structure rather than a vague open studio. Beginners are welcome, and the workshop runs 10am to 5pm on Sunday 9 August as part of Quay Arts Summer School 2026. You leave with both the drawing work and a finished piece, which makes it feel more substantial than a two-hour taster.
Tickets are £70. Book via the Quay Arts website, the Quay Arts Shop, or call 01983 822490. Read the terms before booking. For more arts and craft workshops on the Isle of Wight, Newport’s harbour-side centre runs a full summer school programme through August.
