Christmas Drive-In Cinema: Die Hard

Die Hard brings an adults-only action screening to Robin Hill’s Christmas drive-in, with car-space donations raising money for Wessex Cancer Support.

Christmas Drive-In Cinema: Die Hard brings John McClane’s Christmas ordeal to Robin Hill on Friday 27 November at 9pm. This is an 18-rated screening for adults, with a giant LED screen and the film soundtrack coming through your own car radio. If your idea of a festive film includes a siege, a resourceful detective and a good deal of action, put this late screening in the diary with someone who shares your taste.

Bruce Willis plays McClane, a New York police officer visiting Los Angeles at Christmas who finds himself caught in a hostage crisis inside a high-rise office building. The story turns a holiday visit into a tense battle against the people controlling the building. Wessex Cancer Support includes it in the drive-in programme as a Christmas action choice, with funds raised helping local people affected by cancer. The suggested donation is £25 per car for this film, and hot snacks and drinks are available on site.

Gates open at 8.15pm, giving you 45 minutes to arrive and tune in before the 9pm start. Book a car space in advance and keep the 18 certificate in mind when deciding who will come: this screening is for adults. It offers an arts and film evening with your own seats and company, while supporting the charity’s work. Weather and film licensing can affect the programme, so check for changes before leaving home and allow time for the later finish when arranging your evening.
