Christmas Drive-In Cinema: The Muppets Christmas Carol gives you a Saturday afternoon with Scrooge, the ghosts and a cast of familiar felt faces at Robin Hill. The film starts at 3pm on 28 November, with everyone watching from their own car and listening through the radio. It is a straightforward festive plan for children who love the Muppets and adults who have kept a soft spot for this version of Dickens’ story.
Michael Caine plays Ebenezer Scrooge, whose Christmas Eve visits from three spirits lead him back through his life and towards the people around him. The Muppets bring songs, comedy and their own way of telling the story, with Gonzo and Rizzo helping the audience along. The organiser advertises this screening with a U certificate. The suggested donation is £25 per car for the film, raising money for Wessex Cancer Support’s work with local people affected by a cancer diagnosis.
Gates open at 2.15pm, leaving 45 minutes before the 3pm screening to arrive and sort out the soundtrack. Hot snacks and drinks are available on site, and you need to reserve a car space in advance because places are limited. This is a family cinema outing that fits into the afternoon, giving the younger passengers their own Christmas date before the school calendar gets busy. Check the event before travelling, as weather and film licensing can change the screening arrangements.
