Christmas Drive-In Cinema: The Nightmare Before Christmas

Watch The Nightmare Before Christmas from your car at Robin Hill, with a suggested donation supporting Wessex Cancer Support’s work with local people.

Christmas Drive-In Cinema: The Nightmare Before Christmas opens the festive film weekend at Robin Hill on Friday 27 November at 6.30pm. Jack Skellington’s attempt to bring Christmas to Halloween Town gives this screening its mix of dark humour, songs and seasonal confusion. Watch from your own car, with the soundtrack through the radio and a giant LED screen ahead of you. It is a film-night plan with a different journey from the usual trip to the cinema.

The stop-motion musical follows the Pumpkin King as he steps outside Halloween Town and finds a celebration he does not understand. Its strange creatures and elaborate settings offer plenty to look at, while the story lets Halloween and Christmas collide. Wessex Cancer Support advertises this screening with a U certificate. The suggested donation is £25 per car, per film, with funds helping the charity support local people affected by a cancer diagnosis. Hot snacks and drinks are available on site.

Gates open at 5.45pm, leaving 45 minutes to arrive and prepare the car radio before the opening scene. Reserve your car space in advance, as screening places are limited. Choose your passengers with the film’s dark imagery in mind, even with the advertised certificate. For a family film outing before December fills up, bring the people who enjoy a musical with an odd streak. The screening depends on weather and film licensing, so check for any changes before setting off.
