Christmas Drive-In Cinema: How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas from your car at Robin Hill, with a Sunday afternoon screening raising money for Wessex Cancer Support.

Christmas Drive-In Cinema: How The Grinch Stole Christmas gives you a Sunday afternoon in Whoville at Robin Hill. The film starts at 3pm on 29 November, with a giant LED screen ahead and the soundtrack coming through your car radio. It is a date to share with children who enjoy a larger-than-life Christmas story, or anyone who likes a festive film with a grumpy character at its centre.

Jim Carrey plays the Grinch, whose dislike of Christmas puts him at odds with the celebrations in the town below his mountain home. His plan to steal the trappings of the holiday gives the story its chaos, while Cindy Lou Who questions what the season means. The organiser advertises this screening with a PG certificate, so decide whether it suits the children coming with you. A suggested donation of £25 per car for the film supports Wessex Cancer Support’s work with local people affected by cancer.

Gates open at 2.15pm, giving you 45 minutes before the 3pm start to arrive and get the radio ready. Hot snacks and drinks are available on site, and car spaces need advance booking because the screening has limited places. For a family Christmas outing, this gives Sunday a plan with a clear starting point and a story to talk about on the way home. Check for any changes before travelling, as weather and film licensing can affect the programme.
