The Isle of Wight Festival of Running 2026 gets under way on Sunday 31 May, with West Wight Sports and Community Centre in Freshwater as the base for the whole week. One of the bigger sport and fitness events on the island, the festival runs through to Sunday 7 June and draws runners of all abilities, from local club members to visitors crossing from Lymington or Portsmouth.
Community runs form the core of the opening days, with road, trail and cross-country routes through some of the West Wight's most open country: National Trust paths on Tennyson Down, the coast above Freshwater Bay, Afton Marshes, and the fields of Tapnell Farm. There is also a free Junior Fun Run around the Sports Centre fields, with medals for every finisher and a spot prize for the best fancy dress. The week builds toward the Tapnell 10k on Saturday 6 June and the Needles Half Marathon on Sunday 7 June; the 1 June day of the festival continues the programme in between.
Booking is required and entry prices had not been confirmed at time of writing, so check the official festival website for current details and the full week schedule. The venue sits next to a pay and display car park on Moa Place, and mainland participants can save 20% on Wightlink ferry travel; the Lymington to Yarmouth crossing puts you roughly three miles from the Sports Centre.
