Stitches & Stories - The Cowes Fringe Community Quilt

Stitches & Stories invites children to make fabric squares for a Cowes maritime quilt at East Cowes Town Hall during Cowes Fringe.

Presented by Cowes Fringe

Stitches & Stories is a Cowes Fringe children's workshop at East Cowes Town Hall, built around a community quilt celebrating 200 years of Cowes' maritime story. Young people design and make a fabric square using sewing or fabric painting, then those pieces become part of a larger artwork for the festival. It belongs in the family events diary because there is a clear hands-on activity, not just a show that children can attend.

Karen Robb from The Sewing Collective leads the session, with materials for hand sewing and fabric painting provided. The official page says children aged 0 to 18 can take part, with a charge per square created, and participants may bring their own sewing machines if they wish. For Sarah, this is the sort of morning that gives the children something focused to make while still feeling rooted in Cowes rather than like another generic craft table. Check the Cowes Fringe workshop page for booking and final participation notes.
