Yellow Welly Week Children's Activities runs at Bembridge Lifeboat Station on Thursday 28 May, from 10am to noon. The session takes place inside the Offshore Boathouse, the facility out on the pier at Lane End, which gives it a setting you won't find at a typical village hall morning. It forms part of the RNLI's Yellow Welly Week, the annual fundraising initiative that brings events and activities to lifeboat stations around the country.
No booking is required, so it's a genuine turn-up-and-go option for a half-term morning. Admission is still to be confirmed, so worth checking before you head over. The boathouse is classed as indoors, which means the session holds up whether the east coast delivers late May sunshine or a grey sea mist. The family events calendar has other island options running through the same period if you're planning further ahead.
Lane End sits at the eastern tip of the island, past the harbour and out beyond the village. Parking at the lifeboat station is limited, so arriving earlier in the morning is the sensible call. If you want to build a fuller Yellow Welly Week, the station also hosts the Bembridge Lifeboat Launch & Recovery evening later in the week, with doors from 6.30pm. Bembridge village has a harbour, windmill, and a good stretch of foreshore if the afternoon is yours.
