Sea Otters is the subject for this pastel art class at Veteran Craft Lounge, Ryde, which gives the session a gentler pull than a more formal drawing workshop. Portraitsbyfleur is running it for veterans, all equipment is included, and early booking is essential, which usually means places are being kept manageable rather than packed for the sake of it.
Pastels suit animal work well when you want softness, texture and enough room to build up colour without feeling trapped by tiny detail. Sea otters also give people something expressive to work with straight away, even if they have not touched art materials since school. Pricing is TBC, so call portraitsbyfleur on 07875150810 before you commit. Optional frames may be available to purchase on the day.
Ryde is full of events that sound good in theory and vanish from your mind by the time the week fills up, so this is the sort worth pinning down early if it appeals. It sits naturally with the island's arts and crafts events, and Veteran Craft Lounge, Ryde looks like the kind of venue where people can settle in without feeling judged. Book ahead while places are still there.
