British Classic Week 2026

The UK’s leading classic yacht regatta returns to Cowes with five days of IRC racing and harbour-side social events.

Presented by British Classic Yacht Club

British Classic Week brings classic and modern-classic yacht racing to Cowes from 20 to 25 July 2026, with Cowes Yacht Haven as the hub for a regatta the British Classic Yacht Club has run for more than two decades. Wooden, steel and aluminium classics built to pre-1970 designs share the water with newer boats that look the part.

On the water, the Royal Yacht Squadron helps deliver five days of IRC-handicap racing: long passage races and shorter inshore courses so crews get variety without repeating the same beat all week. Ashore, the social programme fills the town with dock parties, drinks on the Royal Yacht Squadron lawn and a regatta dinner that is as much part of the week as the sailing.

You do not need to own a yacht to enjoy it: the parade of boats, the harbour bustle and the evening events make Cowes feel like its proper self. Entries are invited through the British Classic Week site if you are racing; spectators should check the published schedule for shoreside events. More sport and fitness events run across the island that week if you want something land-based between race days.
