The New Skater Taster opens the rink at Skates Newport Quay to beginners who want more guidance than an ordinary public session provides. Two hours gives time to fit equipment, hear the basic safety points and practise balance before building confidence in motion. The dedicated indoor floor removes traffic, rough paving and rain from the equation, leaving newcomers free to concentrate on how skates respond beneath them.
The taster runs from 10am to noon on Sunday 20 September. Advance booking is required, with the current price, age range and skate-hire terms available from the organiser. Check whether protective equipment is supplied and what kind of socks are recommended. Comfortable clothes that allow knees and hips to bend will make learning easier. Arrive before 10am, as choosing and fastening skates can take longer on a first visit.
As an introductory sport session, the aim is progress rather than speed. Falls are possible, so listen to the coach, leave space around other skaters and use any protective kit correctly. Parents should confirm whether they may watch and whether younger participants require an accompanying adult. The Facebook event is the source for late changes, while 4D Sports Clubs can answer practical questions about sizing, access and the rink’s facilities.
