Ride, Repair, Relax is a women's cycling workshop at the Bembridge Sea Scout Hut, built for anyone who wants fewer nerves when a bike needs attention. Island Pedal Sisters starts the day with coffee and pastries, then moves into a two-hour, hands-on repair session. No previous mechanical experience is needed, and you can come without Lycra or a particular type of bike.
The workshop covers a simple pre-ride safety check, puncture repairs for inner tubes and tubeless tyres, removing and refitting a wheel, and basic brake and gear checks. You will also look at what to carry, how to use it and which trailside fixes may get you home. Practice bikes and wheels will be available, so you do not need to bring a bike to take part. Bringing your own bike is still useful because you can learn on the machine you ride.
Tanya from Beachwood Yoga follows the repair session with yoga for cyclists, focusing on hips, hamstrings, lower back and shoulders. Adaptations will help people work at their own level. Lunch, drinks and time to chat round off the day, with information about future confidence group rides and one-to-one rides. The first Island Pedal Sisters event is limited to ten places and includes a small gift for each attendee. Tickets cost £49 and advance booking is required. Free parking is advertised on site. Come alone or bring a friend, and look through other Isle of Wight sport and fitness events if you want to keep the momentum going.
