Sandown Bay Regatta 2026

Sandown Carnival's annual free regatta brings stage entertainment, beach sports and a street market to Sandown Esplanade on Sunday 9 August 2026, from 10am to 4.30pm.

Presented by Sandown Carnival

Sandown Bay Regatta takes over Sandown Esplanade from 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday 9 August 2026, put on by Sandown Carnival as part of their summer programme. The day splits across three areas: a stage programme of live entertainment, a Beach Sports Arena on the sand, and a street market running the length of the esplanade. The full lineup gets published closer to the date, but the format is consistent enough year on year to plan around.

There's no entry fee and nothing to book, which makes this one of the more honest August plans going. The beach sits directly alongside the event, so younger children can drift between watching stage acts and running at the waterline without anyone feeling they've missed something. The esplanade is exposed when the wind comes off the bay, so a spare layer is worth keeping in the bag regardless of what the morning forecast says.

Island Line runs to Sandown station and takes some of the August car park pressure out of the equation. The street market and cafes close to the seafront give you enough to keep a mixed group occupied between acts. If the Beach Sports Arena is the main draw, sport and active events across the island give you other ideas for the same weekend. For a free family day on the Isle of Wight in August, this is the kind of plan that works whether it becomes a two-hour wander or a full afternoon.
