Wroxall Remembrance Service

Join Wroxall’s Remembrance Sunday service at St John the Evangelist Church, followed by a remembrance presentation at the village war memorial.

Wroxall Remembrance Service brings the village together at St John the Evangelist Church on Remembrance Sunday. The service begins at 10am, followed by a remembrance presentation at the war memorial at 10.45am. The Reverend Barry Downer leads the service. The invitation welcomes anyone who would like to take part, whether you have a personal connection to someone remembered or want to stand alongside neighbours for the occasion.

The morning includes two separate parts, so allow for both when deciding when to arrive. First comes the church service, with time for worship and reflection. The later presentation takes place at the memorial, shifting the focus to the village’s public act of remembrance. You can join other people from Wroxall in marking the day without needing to be part of a club or an organised group. The organisers’ invitation is open to all.

The church is on St Johns Road in Wroxall. Arrive before the 10am start if you intend to attend the full service, and leave enough time to reach the memorial for the presentation. The announcement gives no finishing time, so avoid arranging a collection around an assumed duration. If you have questions about access or taking part in this community remembrance gathering, contact the church beforehand. Dress for the outdoor part of the morning as well as your time inside.
